Peace and Safety for Your Twentieth of July – Live Like Epicurus!

Peace and Safety to the Epicureans of today, no matter where you might be – Happy Twentieth!

For today’s Twentieth,  I’d like to feature a music video presentation from Haris Dimitriadis’ great new website EpicurusPhilosophy.com.  If you haven’t seen it, watch it here or preferably on Haris’ website.

The lyrics are excellent and can be found at the same website:

Living Like Epicurus

We can choose a path in life,
pick few different ways,
conform to all society’s walls,
or adopt our nature’s calls.

Structure has its limits,
can anyone be truly free?
By denying all that pleasure,
just because of the pain you see.

When we have someone reassure us,
then we can live like Epicurus,
all the pleasing, cheerful sweet things lure us,
into living like Epicurus!

Happiness is not an outfit,
doesn’t come in single size,
we need to listen when it speaks,
and try to learn its ways and tricks.

By becoming one with pleasure,
we seize our individuality,
never again being locked up,
in a prison of rationality.

When we have someone reassure us,
then we can live like Epicurus,
all the pleasing, cheerful sweet things lure us,
into living like Epicurus!

When we have someone reassure us,
then we can live like Epicurus,
all the pleasing, cheerful sweet things lure us,
into living like Epicurus,
just like Epicurus!!

The entire website is highly recommended!  Have a great twentieth!

________

As Seneca recorded: Sic fac omnia tamquam spectet Epicurus! So do all things as though watching were Epicurus!

And as Philodemus wrote: “I will be faithful to Epicurus, according to whom it has been my choice to live.”
