Lorenzo Valla – On Pleasure / On The True And False Good

Here’s a writer and text we haven’t discussed recently, but he is well worth reading, even though he had to write within the straightjacket of the church in Italy in 1457. Most well known for his argument that the “Donation of Constantine” was a forgery, his work “On Pleasure / On The True and False Good” contains excellent argument for the superiority of Epicurean philosophy over Stoicism.
